A few months back, my dad ripped off this bit of advertisement from a Norwegian newspaper and hung it with long cuts of dirty masking tape beside the entryway to our kitchen. Back then, we went through a rough time. Fremtiden er Lys means, “The Future is Bright”.
Earlier this week I felt the urge to declutter, and contribute bits of pieces I’ve learned [in college] through styling & decorating, and being creative around the house. I decided to put down what my dad had taped to the wall. Then I carefully ripped the phrase out and mounted it on a piece of wood I had painted white (with sanded edges & corners to create a ‘distressed’ look), destroyed a necklace by stealing one of its chains and nailed it to the [now] artwork.
I haven’t decided yet where to hang it. But it will be somewhere I will see day in & day out to be reminded of a bright future. After all, change is the only constant thing in this world. Whenever you go through a rough time, embrace yourself, for things will change.
It will only get better and better.
