How to Enhance Eyebrows with Brow Shadow

April 4, 2012

Eyebrows

Not everyone likes putting on full makeup before heading out. But you can change your look entirely by applying makeup on just your eyebrows. On this post, you will learn how to enhance your eyebrows with brow shadow. I personally think the eyebrows are what “make” the face.

Brow shadows come in different shades of brown and are matte. On this tutorial, I used an inexpensive waterproof brow shadow from In2It. It can be found in most department stores, and costs only ₱299.75.

You’ll need the following to groom and shape your brows

  • Tweezers
  • Eyebrow brush
  • Eyebrow shadow
  • Dry mascara brush
  • Water

Tweeze, Begin, Draw

1. Tweeze

Tweeze the strands that are obviously out of place.

If you have never had your brows groomed, I found this step-by-step guide helpful: How to Professionally Tweeze your Eyebrows.
Or if you are willing to splurge on them, I suggest paying a visit to Browhaus in Serendra.

2. Begin at the inside of the brow

Dip the brow brush in water, then onto the powder you wish to use. The shadow I used is already waterproof, but using moist powder on the brows makes the makeup stay and last longer (which is important in such a humid country).

Begin at the inside of the brow, creating a line on the lower line of the brow.
Then draw a line on the upper line of the brow.

3. Fill in with powder

Fill in the space between the lines you’ve drawn until you’ve covered the hair evenly.

Feathery strokes, Repeat

4. Continue all the way up the arch

Continue filling in the brow all the way up to the arch, then turn the brush as you fill the rest of the brow downwards with feathery strokes — which will create a more natural look.

5. Make sure the brow is long enough

Make sure the brow is long enough, making the line narrower as it goes down — giving it a fading effect.

6. Repeat

Repeat steps 1-5 on the other brow.

Repeat, Brush up

7. Brush with a mascara brush

With a dry and clean mascara brush, brush up unruly strands into place.

Eyebrow Before and After

Tweaking the eyebrows changes one’s face entirely. Having your eyebrows groomed may hurt, but it is totally worth it! 🙂 Once they have been shaped, it is easy to maintain them. Once you’ve mastered applying makeup on (already groomed) brows, it’ll take you as little as 5 minutes.  They are what frame your face, so make sure they always look good! Until the next makeup tutorial, stay gorgeous. ♥
